Dream Collection is Grace Kim’s exploration of her daily dreams. For this body of work, she recorded her daily dream narratives in a diary. She keeps making assumptions through her reproduction process of the same dream. Even though each of the three dreams represented below has different narratives, Grace explores the connections found between them and reflects her unconscious deep insights. These dreams are illustrated in paintings, jacquard, print and garments.
Repeated and reconstructed prints represent her process of assumption. Because of her memory of a dream fades, the original dream images in her memory are replaced with her painting images. It keeps adding to the original memory and image of a dream and creates new vision of the same dream. The dream collection is a collage of her assumptions of dreams, lost dreams, and reconstructed dreams. The collage of paintings, prints, and jacquard represent her process of assumptions.
